The organisation of the future

Oscar David

Oscar David began work as an independent organizational consultant in 1989. He graduated in psychology from the University of Amsterdam, subsequently furthering his knowledge of personal and organizational development with additional study of a wide range of methods and approaches. His working experience as a consultant began as a trainee within the in-house organizational consultancy department of Shell Nederland, and continued as external consultant involved in the development and execution of a large number of training courses for Shell managers in the areas of communication, teamwork and personal development. These activities quickly developed to include programmes for organizational change, coaching for upper management, team-building and management development programmes.

Working with experienced colleagues, Oscar David's independent practice acquired a number of clients in different sectors within a few years, including many internationally-operating companies such as Philips, the Ahold retail chain organization, ING and ABN AMRO banks, Getronics, PinkRoccade and Hoogovens. He has provided services for major business service providers such as KPMG, PriceWaterhouse Coopers and Twynstra Gudde.

In addition to work under his own name, Oscar David has also provided courses and training projects in cooperation with management institutes in the Netherlands such as De Baak, Nyenrode and Focus. Since 1996 he has increasingly worked with leading officials within the national government. From providing coaching for top managers in practically all of the governmental departments, he has meanwhile been called on to support change processes within various ministries and governmental organizations, including the Ministry for Leisure and the Environment, the ministries of Agriculture and Finances and the tax authorities

His interest in stimulating potential and awareness within organizations has led Oscar David to master a variety of different approaches, including Frameworks for Change and the Transformation Game, Open Space Technology and Voice Dialogue. In-depth study of the various methodologies has enabled him to find the most fitting way to use these approaches within the context of personal and organizational development.

Oscar David first learned of the enneagram in 1993, and studied it in the USA. He was one of the first Dutch consultants to use it in his work, and it was received with great enthusiasm. In 1999 he published "The Enneagram for Managers" (translated from the original 'Het Enneagram in Management', Kluwer, 3rd edition); the first management book about the enneagram to appear in Dutch. The enneagram has meanwhile become widely known in companies and organizations throughout the country.

Together with his team of enneagram teachers, Oscar David presents courses and workshops on this subject through the vehicle of the EnneagramAcademy (see: enneagramacademy.nl). Much of his attention is now again focussed on his original activities: supporting change processes within organizations and coaching senior managers. These activities include enneagram work as well as the use of a number of other approaches. He frequently handles change processes jointly with colleagues from his network of expert consultants.

Oscar David has trained with the systems therapist Bert Hellinger since 1998, and often uses Hellinger's Organizational Constellations approach within client organizations. Oscar David offers open Organizational Constellation workshops under the name 'Coach & Context'.

A further major influence on Oscar David in recent years has been the work of the depth psychologist A.H. Almaas, whose approach he has also been studying since 1998. Oscar David is a member of the Order of Management Consultants. He has been named by 'Quote' business magazine as one of the best professionals in his field in the Netherlands every year since 2000.
